Are Masters in the Holy Grail Wars usually so young?

How in the seven hells did someone so young come to contract with so many Servants and end up in this situation, then?

Apparently? I'm not clear--it can't be a literal Holy Grail as I understand the concept, but it sounds like a sufficient amalgamation of energy is indistinguishable from one. In which case, it's not impossible to assume magical energy on that level might be able to maintain a contradiction in the world.
